Another United Way Campaign Success

The Canisius community has once again shown its generosity by contributing $30,705.35 to the United Way Campaign. The executive committee would like to thank everyone that participated in this year’s campaign. Your donations will help individuals who are less fortunate and in need.

Cyber Security Tip – Shred Unwanted Sensitive Documents

Any sensitive documentation, including old exams and papers, should be shredded for disposal. If your department does not have a shredder, there is a large one available for use in the Wehle Technology Center. Call the Canisius Help Desk at Ext. 2299 for details.

Print Survey Reminder

If you have not yet completed the survey on printing, copying, and scanning here, please remember to do so. Your response is important and will take approximately five minutes. The survey will close at 5 p.m. Friday.

Canisius is taking steps to a greener and more affordable campus. A campus task force is studying printer, copier, fax, and scanner use on campus with an eye towards sustainability, reducing costs, and increasing functionality. We appreciate your feedback!

Linda Thomas Lecture Tonight

Canisius welcomes Linda E. Thomas, PhD, professor of theology and anthropology at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, to campus tonight Thursday, October 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Regis Room. The lecture, entitled “The African American Church and Politics in 2009,” is free and open to the public.

Lucky 7 For Athletics This Weekend

Josh Heidinger leads the Griffs against Air Force

There are seven, count ‘em seven, home athletic events this weekend with something for every sports lover. It all begins Friday night with soccer; swimming, volleyball and hockey hosting out of town opponents on Halloween and a trio of events concluding action on Sunday. Soccer and volleyball are fighting for post-season bids, swimming is hosting their first meet of the year and hockey is taking on the three time defending conference champs (and preseason favorite) Air Force.

The schedule is as follows:

Friday, October 30
Men’s Soccer vs. Marist – 7 p.m., Demske Sports Complex

Saturday, October 31 (Trick or Treat)
M/W Swim vs. Gannon – Noon, Koessler Athletic Center
Volleyball vs. Rider – 2 p.m., Koessler Athletic Center
Hockey vs. Air Force – 3 p.m., Buffalo State Sports Arena
Wear a costume and get a free piece of candy at the door. Also the St. Joe’s Pep Band performs the new Griffin Fight Song.

Sunday, November 1
M. Soccer vs. Siena – Noon [Senior Day], Demske Sports Complex
Volleyball vs. Loyola – 3 p.m. [Senior Day], Koessler Athletic Center
Hockey vs. Air Force – 3 p.m., Buffalo State Sports Arena
