Simpson Scarborough Presentation October 18

All Canisius faculty and staff are invited to attend a presentation by Simpson Scarborough detailing results of recent perception research on Tuesday, October 18 at 2:30 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge.  Jeffrey Papa, PhD, president and partner of Simpson Scarborough will discuss findings of the spring 2011 survey that explored views regarding the image and identity of Canisius College. Refreshments will be provided.

Last Chance to Give to the United Way

Public Safety Adds Segway To Fleet

Public Safety has added a new vehicle to its patrol fleet. A Segway Patroller will be placed in service next week. The Segway comes equipped with lights, sirens and wireless key control. It is versatile and will enhance Public Safety’s ability to patrol the parking ramp, campus sidewalks and roadways. It is completely “green” and runs on electricity.

“Monseñor The Last Journey of Oscar Romero” Screening

The documentary “Monseñor The Last Journey of Oscar Romero” (in Spanish with English subtitles ) will be screened Monday (October 17) at 7:30 p.m. in Lyons Hall, Room 418.  This event is free and open to the public.

An introduction and Q&A session will be led by Rev. Robert Pelton, CSC, project coordinator and theologian for this film as well as other projects of Latin American/North American Church Concerns (LANACC) of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame.

“Monseñor The Last Journey of Oscar Romero” is the first film about Romero that goes beyond the classic genre of a filmed biography to explore and probe the contemporary significance and legacy of his life and tragic death.  This film on Romero places the Latin American campesinos at the center of the story.  To learn more about Romero, click here.

Volleyball Team Hosts Niagara

The Battle of the Bridge series continues Wednesday (October 19) when the Golden Griffin volleyball team hosts the Niagara Purple Eagles at 7 p.m. The match will be held in the Koessler Athletic Center. There is no charge for admission.

Immediately following the game, the Athletics Department will host its first ever Hockey Fanfest in the Patrick Lee Center. The event will feature free food, music, various hockey-related contests, and introductions of the Golden Griffin hockey team and staff. The Fanfest precedes the hockey team’s home opener on Thursday (October 20) versus RIT.
