GrifFit Wellness Survey Deadline Is Friday (October 7)

The opportunity to complete the Interest and Readiness to Change survey that marks the launch of GrifFit ends Friday (October 7).  Faculty and staff are asked to take 10 minutes to complete the survey if they have not already done so at http://questionweb.com/33328/.  The survey is anonymous, administered by a third party, and vital to the success of the wellness program.  Help the Office of Human Resources create a program that reflects both the need and interests of the Canisius community.

Influenza, Pneumonia Vaccination Clinic Coming

The Office of Student Health and the Visiting Nurses Association are offering flu and pneumonia vaccinations on Wednesday, October 19 in the Palisano Pavilion from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Insurances accepted include Independent Health, Univera, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicare Part B.  For those who are not covered by one of these plans, the cost is $30 for the flu shot and $45 for the pneumonia vaccination.  This event is open to the public, and minors ages nine years and older must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

UNITY Celebrates National Coming Out Day

UNITY Canisius invites all members of the Canisius community to join in Canisius’ annual recognition of National Coming Out Day (NCOD) to be held on Wednesday, October 12.

UNITY will hold their annual tee-shirt sale, selling shirts for $1 for all faculty, staff and students interested in showing their solidarity with this cause.  Those interested in buying a tee-shirt should Email unity@canisius.edu by Thursday (October 6) to ensure an order.

Polish Heroes Exhibit Now On Display

The Permanent Chair of Polish Culture is pleased to announce the opening of the “Polish Heroes: Righteous Among the Nations” exhibit now on display in the Alumni Gallery in the corridor of the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library.  The exhibit features photos and stories of 21 Polish citizens living in the area of Crakow, Poland who helped to hide Jews during WWII.

Women’s Soccer Hosts Two Home Games This Weekend

The Golden Griffin women’s soccer team hosts a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contests this fall holiday weekend.  Canisius hosts Loyola on Friday (October 7) at 7 p.m. before battling Rider at 1 p.m. on Sunday (October 9).  Canisius sits atop the league standings at 4-0, while Loyola is 2-0 and Rider 0-2.
