Canisius All-College Honors Program Presents Lectures

The Canisius College All-College Honors Program will present the following lectures:

Gary Radke, PhD Aristide Tessitore

Gary Radke, PhD, dean’s professor of the humanities at Syracuse University, will present “What Should a Sculpture by Leonardo da Vinci Look Like?” on Monday, February 8, 2010 from 3 – 4 p.m. in the Regis Room of the Richard E. Winter ’42 Student Center. An expert in Renaissance art, Radke is a fellow of the American Academy in Rome and is best known for his widely-translated college text, “Art in Renaissance Italy.” This lecture is followed by a reception.

Aristide Tessitore, political science professor at Furman University, will present “Individualism or Greatness? Tocqueville on America’s Uncertain Future,” on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in Regis North of the Richard E. Winter ’42 Student Center. Toqueville, a French nobleman from the early 19th century, is considered the most acute observer of American society and politics.

Women Host Rider Tonight

The Canisius women’s basketball team concludes its brief two game homestand tonight (Monday, February 8) with a 7 p.m. tipoff against Rider in the Koessler Athletic Center.  The Griffs won the first meeting at Rider on January 16 by a score of 78-48.  For tickets, call Ext. 2885.

R.A.I.N. Training February 16

R.A.I.N. (Respond, Assess, Isolate, Notify) training will be held Tuesday, February 16 in Regis North at 2 p.m. for any faculty or staff that has not yet completed it.  This training, run by Gary Everett, director, public safety, helps any participant to know how to respond in the event of an emergency situation on campus.  To reserve your seat, contact Kathy Kelly in Human Resources at kelly7@canisius.edu or Ext. 2240.
