Double Your Pleasure – Griffin Week Culminates

Senior Frank Turner

Canisius hits the “Big Stage” Friday night with a college basketball doubleheader that will be shown live on ESPNU. Presented by Wendy’s, the Canisius women host Marist at 4:30 p.m., while the men renew their long-standing rivalry with Niagara at 7 p.m.

Reserved tickets (while the supply lasts) for all Canisius employees are only $5 with your college ID.

The Marist (16-4, 8-0) women currently reside in first place in the MAAC and they received votes in the latest Top 25 poll this week. The Canisius women just had a three game win streak snapped and currently sit in sixth place in the league.

The Canisius men are holding on to fifth place in the conference, one game ahead of Niagara. The Griffs’ Frank Turner ranks second in the MAAC in scoring with 17.1 points per game. The game is the first basketball contest this season in the annual “Battle of the Bridge” contest.

Friday is also “Suits and Sneakers Night,” presented by Coaches vs. Cancer. Both coaching staffs will wear sneakers and shoes which will be passed through the crowd in an effort to collect money for cancer research. Friday will also see the Canisius champions crowned in four categories of the annual MAAC Shootout.
