“Conversations In Christ & Culture” Lecture This Thursday

The Canisius College Center for the Global Study of Religion presents its for “Conversations in Christ & Culture” lecture for 2010 Thursday, February 11.  Gustav Niebuhr, PhD, associate professor of religion and the media at Syracuse University, will present a lecture entitled “Beyond Tolerance: Searching for Interfaith Understanding in America” at 7:30 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge.  This event is free and open to the public.

Niebuhr directs the Religion and Society Program and the Carnegie Religion and Media Program at Syracuse University. Prior to his position at the university, Niebuhr spent two years as a visiting fellow and scholar-in-residence at Princeton University’s Center for the Study of Religion. He is best known as one of the nation’s most celebrated religion news reporters and has held positions at The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal. Niebuhr is also the author of Beyond Tolerance: Searching for Interfaith Understanding in America, which earned a starred review from Publishers Weekly.

“Conversations in Christ & Culture” is an ecumenical lecture, workshop, conference and performance series designed to expose the local Christian community to internationally-known speakers. To read more about other events in the series, click here.
