Canisius College Composer-in-Residence Persis Vehar presents her first lecture of the year entitled “Opera and Politics” on Thursday, October 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.  Vehar will present and examine examples of classical composers’ historical involvement in the political climate of their respective countries.  Musical examples will include excerpts of Vehar’s opera “Eleanor Roosevelt” as well Rhoda Lerman’s play on which Vehar’s opera is based.
