Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death in young athletes and Americans in general with more than 250,000 cardiac related deaths per year.  When someone experiences SCA, the time for response is short, and immediate access to an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) is critical.  Survival rates increase by as much as 80 percent when AED’s are accessible.

To summon an AED on campus, dial 711.  Five AEDs are located in the Koessler Athletic Center (three of which are portable and travel to athletic venues), one in Student Health, one in Demerly Hall in the sports medicine and health office, and two in the Office of Public Safety (one is mobile, in the supervisor’s car).
