Campus ministry’s Alumni, Faculty and Staff Service and Immersion Program will take place from May 24-30, 2010 and is open to Canisius College alumni, faculty/staff and their families.  This year, the program will team-up with Catholic Charities Operation Helping Hands-a program of the Archdiocese of New Orleans and the Jesuits of the New Orleans Province of the Society of Jesus to assist with rebuilding homes.  No experience is required.  Participants will also prepare and serve a meal to the homeless in downtown New Orleans.

Why New Orleans; why now?  It has become a forgotten place and while much progress has been made and vast improvement seen in the quality of life, there is still much to be done.  This service and immersion program helps participants live out the Jesuit tradition of “being women and men with and for others.”  It is a service, immersion and cultural program, and the week provides spiritual awakening and renewal.
