Today (February 17) is Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent.  For Catholic Christians, Lent is our annual 40-day season of renewal leading up to Easter.  It is a time to slow down and get in touch with the Spirit, and is a time for prayer, fasting, good works and almsgiving.

The liturgical schedule for Ash Wednesday consists of Masses at 8 a.m., 12:05 p.m., 1 p.m., 5:10 p.m., and 9:30 p.m. with ashes being distributed at each Mass.  There will be music at the 12:05 p.m., 1 p.m., 5:10 p.m., and 9:30 p.m. Masses.

Information about the various campus ministry programs and schedules during Lent can be found here.  Information about a three minute a day on-line Ignatian retreat from Loyola Press can be found here.  For information about participating in a Lenten “Carbon Fast,” click here.
