Ellen Hamm, PhD, of the Education Department, and Nate Lull, play by play voice for Golden Griffin hockey, captured the female and male Faculty/Staff/Administrator titles at the 14th Annual Shoes for the Shelter 5K. Over 600 runners and walkers registered for the event.
Hamm won the women’s crown in a time of 24:37. Mary O’Sullivan, PhD, from the Chemistry department, placed second in 26:45, while Jennifer Mazurkiewicz from Admissions finished third with a clocking of 28:31.
On the men’s side, Lull ran an impressive 18:15 over the 3.1 mile course. The Chemistry Department’s Chris Mekelburg was second in a time of 19:23, while Mike Marino, with the Facilities staff, finished third in a time of 19:27.
Chris Walters won the race in a course record time of 15:25.
The top student finishers were Tyler Evans and Kelli Graber, while the Alumni crowns were taken by Vasilis Kariolis and hall of famer, Heather Appenheimer.
