Ignatian Scholarship Day Is Today (April 20)

Canisius College will hold its fifth annual Ignatian Scholarship Day today (April 20) from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. on the second floor of the Winter Student Center, Montante Cultural Center and other campus venues. This event is a celebration that showcases the research, scholarship, and performances of our undergraduate and graduate students through poster displays, oral paper presentations, multimedia presentations, two or three-dimensional art, or artistic performances (poetry, drama, vocal or instrumental music) throughout the day, as well as a concert by the Music Department in the evening.

Last Chance To Receive Dugan Bobblehead

The final batch of Father Dugan Bobblehead dolls will be distributed at Saturday’s home lacrosse game vs. VMI. Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m. with gates opening at 10 a.m. There are approximately 100 dolls remaining. This is the final home game for the men’s lacrosse team this season.

Baseball Scheduled to Host MAAC Showdown

The first place Golden Griffin baseball team is set to host Manhattan this weekend in a showdown of the MAAC’s top two teams. The Griffs currently sit atop the league with a 7-2 conference record, while the Jaspers are 8-4.

Saturday’s doubleheader is slated for a 2 p.m. start, while Sunday’s single game is set for noon.

The Griffs, 20-19 overall after pummeling UB 14-4 on Wednesday, are led by Drew Pettit’s .333 BA. Freshman Devon Stewart is 3-1 with a 3.53 ERA.

Piano Recital this Saturday

ArtsCanisius and the Stecher and Horowitz Foundation present a performance by pianist Yen Yu Chen, prize winner from the 2010 New York International Piano Competition on Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m in the Montante Cultural Center. The program features the music of Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Prokofiev, Scarlatti, Schumann and Stravinsky. Chen has won numerous prizes and competitions world-wide and her insightful and passionate performances have received wide acclaim. This performance is free and open to the public. Upcoming ArtsCanisius Musical Performances

The fine arts department and ArtsCanisius present two performances this Sunday and Monday (April 22-23). The first concert is on Sunday, April 22 at 3 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel. It is a Junior Recital given by soprano Miranda Lombardo as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music.

The final Meet-the-Faculty recital of the year is Monday, April 23 at noon in the Montante Cultural Center and features Leslie Salathé, viola and guest pianist Alfred Frenning.
