The Archives Speaker Series takes on an international flavor today (April 26) in the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library, 2nd Floor at 2:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. A Q&A period and light refreshments will follow the presentation.
Noted Larkin Company expert, Howard Stanger, PhD, who teaches business history to both MBA and Honors students, will be joined by German researcher, Christine Schnaithmann. Stanger will discuss how his research on the Larkin company evolved and the impact of his articles.
Schaithmann, one of the first graduates of HPI School of Design Thinking in Potsdam, Germany, is investigating the relationship between office organization and architecture using Frank Lloyd Wright’s Larkin building as a case study. She currently conducts research and is a teaching assistant in the department of cultural History and theory at Humboldt-Universitat, Berling.
Although the Larkin Building was razed in 1950, the historic neighborhood in which it stood is enjoying a manufacturing renaissance known as “The Hydraulic District.”
The Archives Speaker Series showcases researchers whose focus on primary documents has resulted in an expression of scholarship.

The Department of Kinesiology will be hosting the final seminar for the semester today (April 26) at 4 p.m. in Room G21 in the Koessler Athletic Center. Chuck Pelitera, MS, CSCS will present a lecture entitled, “Professional Options Available as a Health/Wellness Professional.”
Seminar Abstract
As a health/wellness professional there are many directions in which an individual can travel with their degree. The health and wellness field is not just a profession, but instead, is a chosen lifestyle. You can be a positive influence and role model for many diverse populations.
This presentation will attempt to address the options that will be available to you. In addition, there are future trends and opportunities in this field which have not as of this point been fully realized. You are at the perfect time in history to be in this field. Most of the world is aware of the importance of proper diet and exercise and they need you to show them the way.

The Canisius College Chorale, directed by Frank Scinta, and Chamber Orchestra directed by Ansgarius Aylward, perform their final on campus concerts of the year this weekend. The Chorale performs this Saturday, April 28, and the Chamber Orchestra’s performance is Sunday, April 29, which features the music of Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven and Mendelssohn. Both performances start at 7:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
