Eileen M. Angelini, PhD, Honored at Reception

Eileen M. Angelini, PhD (left), professor of French in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures, received the insignia of chevalier of the Ordre des Palmes Academiques from Pascal Soares (right), Honorary French Consul, during a reception on April 19 in the Montante Cultural Center.

The L’Ordre des Palmes Academiques has been a cherished award for the past 164 years.  It is given to those who make major contributions to French education and culture. Angelini was given the chevalier, which is a medallion worn on a ribbon.  The award was created by Napolean Bonaparte in 1808 to recognize devotion and accomplishment in the realm of teaching.
