Canisius Signs Cooperation Agreement with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University

Canisius President John J. Hurley and His Excellency Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, PhD, president of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University (TAGIUNI), signed a cooperation agreement between the two institutions. TAGUINI is an accredited business college affiliated with German Jordanian University, which is run by the German and Jordanian governments in Jordan.
The agreement includes the following four online programs: Master of Science in International Business, Certificate in Educational Administration, Certificate in Educational Technologies & Emerging Media, and Certificate in Online Teaching and Training. The degrees and certificates will be awarded by Canisius but will also be co-branded and recognize the cooperation of TAGIUNI.

“This agreement affirms our interest in increasing our program enrollments from outside the United States,” said President Hurley. “This is one of the bridges we are building to extend our global reach. We are especially happy to partner with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University and participate in the wide network of contacts the organization has.”

Canisius will control admissions to the programs, student progress, and assessment. Instruction will be delivered online by Canisius faculty while TAGIUNI will recruit qualified students and provide academic services such as advisement, positive identification of students, testing, and tutoring.

Special Olympics Softball Event

Lauren Cavanaugh, Assistant Professor of Kinesiology, and Assistant Softball Coach, Kim Griffin, have been coaching a Special Olympics softball team for the past few months. Since this new team did not gain entry into the Special Olympics State Games this fall, a Unified Game with the Canisius women’s softball team will be held on October 3 from 5:3 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Demske Complex.

To make this event as exciting as possible for the Special Olympics athletes, the event will have a PA announcer and a running score board. The goal is to draw a big crowd, and hopefully Petey will make a guest appearance.

Thank you in advance for your support and we hope to see you there. GO GRIFFS!!
