After playing a combined 43 games on the road, the Golden Griffin softball and baseball teams open their home schedules today (March 29) against Big 4 competition.

Mike Rappl’s softball team gets things underway with a single game at 2 p.m. against the University at Buffalo, while Mike McRae’s baseball team meets St. Bonaventure at 4 p.m.  Both contests will be played at the Demske Sports Complex.

Softball heads back out on the road next week before returning for a six game homestand, while the baseball team begins a five game homestand with today’s game.  The Griffs host UB Wednesday (March 30) at 3 p.m. before meeting Marist in a three game MAAC series over the weekend.

In related baseball news, shortstop Sean Jamieson (pictured) was named the Louisville Slugger National Baseball Player of the Week.  Jamieson hit .435 (10-for-23) with 11 runs scored, 14 RBI, four home runs and four stolen bases in five games last week.  The senior shortstop had three multi-hit games, scored at least two runs in four games and hit a homer in three of the five games.  Jamieson set the school record with nine RBI in the win at Morehead State and became the first Golden Griffin in 15 years to hit for the cycle.
