Mobile Learning Web 2.0: On-line Web Conference

Teaching chemistry with games on an iPod?*  Using text messages to remind students of papers due?**

These ideas are not that farfetched.  On March 3 & 4, faculty and staff have an opportunity to see what other mobile strategies are being initiated at colleges and universities around the country when The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) and the ITS FacTS Center sponsor “Mobile Learning 2.0: The Next Phase of Innovation in Mobility,” an on-line Web conference through the Educause Learning Initiative (ELI) Spring Focus Session.

The March 3 session will be from Noon – 5:30 p.m. and the March 4 session will be from Noon – 5 p.m.  Both events are held in the Library Conference Room.  Some presentations are only 30 minutes while others are longer.  Click here for a full description of the conference or click here for a full schedule of the presentations.  Faculty and staff are more than welcome to come to one or as many sessions as their time allows.

This conference will bring together faculty, researchers and administrators to talk about their projects ranging from delivery of course content to using mobile devices for assessment and engaging students with their communities.  Keynote speakers will talk about where mobile technology in higher education is headed.

For questions or more information, contact CTE at Ext. 3720.

* P.J. Moskal, assistant professor, digital media arts, and Roberto M. Gregorius, PhD, associate professor of adolescence education, presented their prototype iPod chemistry game at Digital Day on February 19, 2010.
