I’m happy to announce an exciting new development regarding the sale of Canisius properties. At the end of the month four single-family homes will be listed for sale, and I wanted to inform the college community of the opportunity to purchase these houses before they are placed on the open market. All homes are located near the campus in the Hamlin Park neighborhood and are eligible for purchase through the college’s Employer Assisted Housing (EAH) program.

The properties include 13, 49 and 57 Glendale Place and 83 Meech Avenue. Each home has been updated and is in move-in condition. The homes are priced between $89,900 and $109,900. The following links include photos and full details of the properties:

Canisius is committed to promoting home ownership and assisting in our neighborhood’s revitalization. The EAH Program supports the college’s initiative to refurbish and return college-owned homes in the Hamlin Park neighborhood to owner-occupiers. Therefore, all homes must be purchased as primary residences.

EAH is a benefit offered by the college to enable employees to purchase homes in the city of Buffalo near the college. Since its inception in 2002, the program has helped 42 faculty and staff members buy homes.

Eligible full-time employees of the college receive grants in the form of forgivable loans to assist with down payments or closing costs associated with the purchases of homes in designated areas. All of the properties for sale are within EAH’s enhanced benefit target area and qualify for a loan of up to 10 percent of the purchase price or $7,000, whichever is less. The loans are forgiven over five years assuming that the employee remains at the college and lives in the home.  Click here for full EAH program details.
