Canisius Students Attend Pope’s Mass

A group of 10 Canisius students are back in class this morning after a whirlwind trip to Philadelphia this weekend, where they attended the Papal Mass that marked the conclusion of the World Meeting of Families.  The students departed for their journey on Friday, September 25, along with Campus Ministry Director Mike Hayes and Rev. James M. Pribek, SJ, associate professor of English.

President John J. Hurley was with the students before they departed from campus to wish them well and join in a group prayer. Channels 2 and 7 and Time Warner Cable News covered the send off. Watch Time Warner’s coverage here.

St. Joseph’s University hosted the Canisius contingent.  From the university, students walked five miles to Benjamin Franklin Parkway, the site for Sunday’s outdoor Mass.  After standing in a security line for more than three hours, the group watched the Papal Mass on a nearby large-screen TV.

Web Browser Recommendations

In general, ITS and FacTS recommend the Google Chrome browser for most things you do on the Web, although Internet Explorer (for Windows) or Safari (for Mac) are best for desktop Banner, Business Objects and certain campus business applications.

Please refer to the Guide to Technology Services for Faculty and Staff for more information.

Paul Young, PhD, at the Historical Society

Paul Young, PhD, shared a presentation at the History Center of the Niagara County Historical Society on Thursday, September 24. Young is a professor emeritus of science education and a Koessler Distinguished Professor at Canisius College.

His lifelong interest in natural sciences led Young to research and photograph many facets of Niagara Falls and its gorge. Young explained how Niagara Falls and its gorge changed in the face of retreating glaciers, water levels and elevation.
