Qualtrics and D2L Can Help with Classroom Assessments

For decades, instructors have used Scantron for quizzes, exams and surveys. But new web-based technologies can save instructors the time and trouble of managing Scantron assessment, while offering more options such as question randomization and instant grading.

On Monday, September 21 at 3:00 p.m. in Old Main 119, Mark Gallimore will conduct a workshop introducing Qualtrics, a powerful but easy to use online survey application, ideal for a variety of survey or data collection projects.

On Friday, September 25 at 2:00 p.m. in Old Main 119, the workshop will demonstrate how faculty can build a quiz or exam using Desire2Learn’s on-board quizzes tool. D2L offers a variety of improvements over traditional paper-based assessments.

Sign up for either of these workshops here. Call Mark at Ext. 8353 for any questions about either Qualtrics or Desire2Learn.

Sammarco acts as chief support for the college’s Strategic Planning Committee, and serves as secretary to the college’s Board of Trustees.  She played a critical role in the college’s decennial accreditation process last year. A member of the college’s senior leadership team, Sammarco also plays a key role in new initiatives and projects originating in the president’s office.

“Erica Sammarco is a highly-valued member of the college’s senior leadership,” said President Hurley.  “Her promotion to associate vice president reflects the increasingly critical role she is playing in several important college initiatives, including accreditation, strategic planning and coordination of the college’s senior leadership team.”

Previously, Sammarco served as director of corporate and foundation relations at Canisius from 2005 – 2010. In this role, she implemented and managed local, regional, national corporate and foundation relations programs to support college-wide initiatives, with emphasis on the priorities of the college’s $90 million comprehensive campaign, A Legacy of Leadership.
