My time as a Communications Intern at the American Cancer Society was very beneficial and rewarding. This was my first internship. One of my biggest goals was to gain more clarity regarding what I someday want to do with my life and personal growth. At ACS, I created a vast majority of their regional social media posts and in doing that I have decided I want to narrow my focus in on Social Media Marketing. I enjoyed being able to express my creativity in this way. I without a doubt experienced personal growth at ACS. Looking back to the very first post I created compared to the things I was creating in my final week, it is obvious I became more comfortable and better at my job.

I am thankful I was able to gain experience in an office, working and networking with professionals who have jobs I could see myself in one day. I also got to see what not-for-profit work looked like and how an organization like the American Cancer Society runs. This internship put me in the right direction in order to move forward in my college career and even after graduation.

Overall, I would rate my experience with the American Cancer Society very positively. It left me with clarity about my future. It was rewarding to apply what you learn in a classroom to the real world.
