During the first couple of weeks at my internship I have learned quite a bit about the process of screen printing. The first week I was there I reclaimed screens to get them ready for their next use. I learned how to properly clean them and then prepare the screens for burning an image. I learned they use light sensitive emulsion to burn an image on to a screen using an enclosed light box. Just last week their pipes were frozen so the shop was closed down. I learned that if the emulsion freezes, it actually ruins the process and no longer makes it light sensitive so it cannot produce an image. We have talked more about what else I will be doing during the semester. They said I will help and oversee on some upcoming projects and come up with a project of my own where I can create my design and go through the entire process.
