I went to a gear expo at the studio where I interned last semester. It was nice to see everyone again and catch up. There were a bunch of professional gear vendors demonstrating their equipment. I saw some really cool gadgets that I had never seen. There was VR set mapping that allows you to plan out a shoot (lighting, camera angles, etc.) remotely and in advance. There was also a huge camera device that swings around a product and captures a cool, smooth shot. I spoke with a representative from the VR booth and a recent Canisius grad from the Delaware Camera booth. He gave me some helpful post-graduation advice and some beginner camera recommendations. I was a little nervous because I was at the event alone and it was an intimidating setting. Initiating conversations with new people helped me feel more comfortable and it turned out to be a fun event.
