On February 28, I attended the Canisius College Griff Fair that was held in Science Hall from 3-5pm. I walked in and was immediately overwhelmed. There were so many students there as well as organizations. I tried my best to walk around first to check everything out. Beforehand I established a list of the places I definitely wanted to hit. Those were: Rich’s, Ingram Micro, Horizon Health Services, Univera, BlueCross BlueShield, Independent Health, WNED, New Era, Heritage Centers, Baker Victory Service, and People’s Inc. I went by myself because I wanted to make sure that I put myself out there. I walked around and introduced myself and made sure to shake the hand of the person there. After each time, whether I was interested or not, I asked if they were accepting resumes. I had printed 15 resumes out beforehand, and had 6 left after I was finished. I heard a lot of good things from people there and I was able to get a headshot done for Linkedin. I do think that there were a lot of people crammed into one space which made it a little difficult, but we all made it work. However, I think a lot of organizations were there just for publicity. A lot that I talked to didn’t have any positions open at all including internships and jobs. Overall I think that this event was a success and I’m glad that I attended.
