On Thursday April 24th at the Montante Cultural Center on Canisius College Campus, I attended the PRSSA networking event. The event consisted of two brief presentations from two communication professionals followed by speed networking. This was not as beneficial as it could have been as there were only 5 individuals to network with. Unfortunately, entering into the event planning industry, there was no one there that I could really talk to about how to enter the field. On the other hand, Zack Schneider was somewhat beneficial because he knows people at an Event Planning Company in Buffalo. It was interesting to learn their journeys in how they got to where they are today and the best advice I heard all night was just go for it. The communication professionals continuously said “just go for it”, meaning even if you don’t think you are going to get the job apply because you never know what will happen. This was awesome to hear from so many people because applying for jobs that require experience is discouraging, but like they said you never know what may happen so just go for it.
