When I went into my internship I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do and wrote out a list of everything. I had a set plan to achieve certain goals and I would have everything under control. That is almost 100% what didn’t happen. Although I was able to do a good amount of things I put on my list, there were a lot of things I was not able to get to. Does this mean my internship was a bust? Not even close. This just means there are always going to be things that are totally out of my control and I’m going to have to learn how to deal with new obstacles being thrown in my way. I learned things that, as played out as this sounds, I wouldn’t have been able to learn in the classroom. Simulations and class exercises are just that and they can’t compare to how a professional work environment is. So don’t give up hope and chances are you’ll find a job that may not exactly be what you trained for or really wanted but you’ll be ready to adapt.
