My networking event was so fun! I attended the Elmwood Village Association’s “21st Birthday” – a cocktail party. I volunteered by selling raffle tickets, but I also got to meet many great people. Many attendees were business owners, board members, and others I have met during my internship. It was great to talk to them in a different environment. I also met many new people who asked my affiliation with the Elmwood Village. They were curious about my internship and, in response, I also got to ask them their affiliation and what they do for a living. I feel that I benefitted from this experience because, as I was selling raffle tickets, it was up to me to start a conversation with somebody. It was more of a “natural” networking event because conversation included everything from careers to what the best appetizer at the party was. It was a great experience!
