As I approach my final week at Travers Collins, it’s really starting to hit me I will be done with going to school forever (I hope). The past four years have flown by and what better way to end my college career than gaining experience at my internship. I want to share my experience the past four months in the most truthful way possible. I don’t want to hold back and say I liked what I did, because I didn’t. I don’t necessarily find that a bad thing though. Don’t get me wrong- I worked with amazing people who have been nothing but helpful and positive towards me, but I am one of the few people who got to their internship and immediately realized that’s not what I want to do for the rest of my life.

I feel it is important to have these types of experiences in life. I feel I have learned a lot by having to do tasks I didn’t particularly enjoy. If you know me, you know my personality doesn’t reflect sitting behind a computer for six hours. Most days I was given “New Business Research.”  I pretty much had to look at poorly designed websites (and by poorly designed I mean companies with stock photos of Windows 98 computers). Sure, that didn’t appeal to me, but while doing that I learned a great amount about Google Analytics and SEO.

By doing things I didn’t enjoy, I have gained a better knowledge of what I do want to do. You can always make a positive out of a negative and I truly learned a lot about myself while working at Travers Collins.
