As we go through our college years we are constantly reminded that internships are key. Internships provide you with new connections and give you real life experience in the work world.  Therefore, knowing how important this opportunity was going to be for me already put butterflies in my stomach. Being told that I would be interning in Training and Development as well as recruiting though made me even more nervous.  Not only would I be splitting my time in half but I had no prior knowledge of what Training and Development even did as a department.  I was filled with anticipation and nerves in hopes that I would fit in and this internship would be a good match.

I have now finished my fourth week interning with Kaleida Health in the CTDEE department (corporate training and development and employee engagement) and things are going even better than I anticipated.  The first week or so was filled with orientations  and meetings, basically getting me acclimated to my new environment and making sure I had some basic knowledge on the company and what it is that the CTDEE department does.  Now that I am more settled in I have been given the job of helping organize the communication plan and launch of a new program called LEAD.  It feels great doing work and research and being held responsible for something.  When the program launches in March I will actually be able to see a product of my work and that is something I’m really looking forward to.  I have already learned so much about Training and Development and all the jobs and positions related to it and am excited for what is to come. I can only hope that my experience in recruiting will be as rewarding as this one  has been so far.
