A lot has happened since the last post that I submitted in January. I am now interning at two locations: the International Institute of Buffalo and Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The department I am interning at is a new department called patient and family experience. The medical and health care field has changed drastically over the last few decades.  The Patient and Family experience department is patient centered and provides services including advocacy, training, patient navigation etc.  My experience has been pleasant and I am learning a lot. I had the opportunity to have meetings with many of the staff members, Doctors, Nurses, social workers and executives from other departments. I am currently working on two projects, one for my department and another for the breast clinic.   Everyone at Roswell has been very helpful and welcoming.

As for IIB, I have been arranging dental, medical and WIC appointments.  I had the chance to sit down with a client and I had tea from Iraq with her in her home. The tea was amazing by the way!!!  She is extremely sweet and she and her friend tried to teach me Arabic, but I forgot everything they taught me before I left her house!  This experienced has sparked an interest in me to learn Arabic.  She has a well known salon back home and was kind enough to show me pictures of her salon and hair styles that she did on clients.  All in all my experiences at both places have been great and unique.
