Barbara Irwin, PhD, communication studies professor and her “Broadcasting in America” class visited WKBW-TV Channel 7 on Wednesday, October 17 to tour the studio and meet with several members of the news team. The class received an up-close look at the digital side of the news, learning about social media utilization as a way to track trending stories and how the media attempts to connect to their audience members with stories that will resonate with them, focusing on topics that are of importance to the people of WNY.

Forbes interviewed alumna Molly Burhans ’14, founder and executive director of Catholic Geographic Information Systems Center, about how she is helping to transform the way the Catholic Church manages its land. 53rd Annual Regents Scholarship Ball

Anthony M. Masiello, recipient of the 2019 Distinguished Citizen Award

The 53rd Annual Canisius College Regents Scholarship Ball will be held Saturday, May 4 at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo. This event is the primary fundraiser for the Board of Regents Scholarship Fund, which distributes more than $80,000 annually in scholarships to deserving students.

The Regents Ball also provides an opportunity to pay tribute to individuals who have been outstanding contributors to the community. This year the Board of Regents will honor Anthony M. Masiello, president of Masiello, Martucci, Calabrese and Associates, with the 2019 Distinguished Citizen Award.

Business Awards Dinner

The Richard J. Wehle School of Business commemorated its 50th annual Business Awards Dinner on Tuesday, October 9. Jeffrey E.
