Border Initiative Week

The Canisius Border Initiative is hosting a week of events beginning today, Friday, October 19. The Initiative is an Ignatian, collaborative effort by students, faculty and staff who seek to encourage discussion, reflection and engagement with refugee, immigration and border issues on a global scale. “Frankenscience” Event Featuring Canisius Physics Professors

The Buffalo Museum of Science is celebrating the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein with the “Science After Hours: Frankenscience” event tonight, Friday, October 19 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Canisius professors Michael Wood, chair and professor of physics, Erden Ertorer, clinical instructor of physics and Chrissy Colson, adjunct professor of physics, will present several science-themed demonstrations.

The event is open to guests who are 21 years old or older. There will be beer and wine available for purchase. Come show your support for the Canisius Physics Department and enjoy this Halloween-themed evening.

Men’s Soccer Fights for Playoff Spot

The Canisius men’s soccer team fights for a top six playoff seeding for the MAAC Tourney as it hosts a crucial game Saturday night, October 20 versus St. Peter’s. Kick-off against the Peacocks is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Prior to mid-week games, Canisius was one point out of a playoff spot with St. Peter’s holding the spot immediately ahead of Canisius in the conference standings.

Volleyball Returns Home This Weekend

The Canisius volleyball team returns home this weekend for a pair of key matches in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.  Canisius, 7-3 and in 4th place in conference play prior to last night’s match at Niagara, hosts winless Siena on Saturday before meeting second place Marist (8-2) on Sunday. Both matches start  at 1 pm.

Annual Athletics Department Merchandise Sale is Next Week

The annual Athletic Department merchandise sale will take place Wednesday, October 24 and Thursday, October 25 on the main floor of the Koessler Athletic Center. Reduced Golden Griffin gear will be available for purchase, as well as New Era caps, hoodies, 1/4 zips and more. The items make great gifts and with the holidays just two months away, this is an opportunity to get a head start on shopping. Get that championship feeling by expanding your Golden Griffin wardrobe.
