Jeffrey R. Lindauer, PhD has been appointed as dean of the School of Education and Human Services, effective June 1, 2014. Dr. Lindauer has been serving as interim dean since July 2013. Dr. Lindauer came to Canisius in 2008 as chair of the Department of Kinesiology, originally the Department of Physical Education, Health, and Sport Studies. Prior to his Canisius career, Dr. Lindauer was a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 2002-2008, in the Department of Kinesiology. He holds a B.A. in Physical Education from Wartburg College, a M.S. from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse in Exercise and Sport Science, and a Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Prior to starting his graduate studies, Dr. Lindauer was a teacher and coach in the Humboldt Community School District in Humboldt, Iowa.
Dr. Lindauer has published numerous scholarly articles and presented his research at many national conferences. He has an excellent record of service at the department, university and professional levels, for which he has won numerous awards. Among his many accomplishments at Canisius, Dr. Lindauer led the development of the undergraduate major in health and wellness, and designed and implemented an eight – week professional development curriculum for physical educators from Shanghai, China.
Dr. Richard A. Wall, vice president for academic affairs at Canisius, in his announcement to faculty and staff said, “I am happy to announce the appointment of Jeffrey R. Lindauer, PhD, as dean of the School of Education and Human Services. I look forward to continue working with Jeff and his demonstrated leadership in the School.”
