Members of the Society of PreHealth Professionals spent Spring Break in Washington, DC, serving and learning about issues of social justice in health and healthcare. Students started the week learning about Catholic Social Teaching and how NETWORK, a Catholic social justice lobby group, has advocated for accessible, affordable, quality, universal healthcare.

Service of Remembrance for Brian E. Moretti MS ’13, Sunday, March 30

A Service of Remembrance for Brian E. Moretti MS ’13 is scheduled for Sunday, March 30, at 7:00 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel.  Father James Dugan, SJ, associate campus minister will serve as the presider.

Brian died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 5. A Mass of Christian burial took place in Rhode Island on March 12.

While at Canisius, Brian served as a graduate assistant with athletics in the External Affairs Office. He worked closely with C Block on sports promotion, and was respected and loved by all whom worked with him.

The Moretti family has established a scholarship in Rhode Island in Brian’s memory.  Anyone wishing to contribute will have an opportunity to do so at the Remembrance Service or may send contributions to Campus Ministry until Friday, April 4.

Creative Services Wins Best of Show

The college’s Creative Services team won a Best of Show award in the 29th Annual Educational Advertising Awards competition – the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. Canisius won Best of Show and a gold award in the publication category for the graduate inquiry packet.

Canisius also won a silver award in the brochure category for the undergraduate acceptance package, and silver in the search piece category for the undergraduate fall search piece.

The 29th Annual Educational Advertising Awards, sponsored by Higher Education Marketing Report, judged nearly 2,000 entries from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries. Canisius was one of just 20 institutions recognized as Best of Show winners. Gold awards were granted to 160, and silver awards were awarded to 146 institutions.

D2L in Action on Friday- Reminder

Desire2Learn Day is tomorrow, Friday, March 28. D2L will be held in Science Hall Commons and SH-1053 starting at 11:30 a.m. You’ll hear how D2L is currently being used by faculty colleagues. A student panel will let us know about their experiences as well. Bring your brown bag lunch. We’ll provide beverages and snacks. Come when you can, and stay as long as you can.
