National German Honor Society Celebrates Culture Fest

On Saturday, March 8, 2014 the National German Honor Society at Canisius College will celebrate its Third Annual “Frühlingsfest” (German Culture Fest), a celebration of spring and the college’s German heritage. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge, and Frühlingsfest will run until 10:00 p.m. The event will highlight the life and the culture of contemporary Germany, and will feature classic and modern German music and film. Traditional German dishes, such as homemade schnitzel fingers, knockwurst and sauerkraut, baked pretzels, and potato pancakes will be served. The evening will also include a short, engaging program meant to inform guests about all aspects of the German major at Canisius College: available courses, scholarships, study abroad, career opportunities and more. While open to the general public, the German Culture Fest is geared towards a younger audience between the ages of 20 and 30 years. Because alcohol will be served, a valid ID is required from all attending. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a grand prize in the amount of 100 EURO. Admission is set at $ 5.00 (for Canisius students) and $ 8.00 for all others. Questions can be directed to Dr. Peter Böhm, associate professor of German and advisor to the Canisius chapter of the National German Honor Society, at 716-888-2327. You can also visit the event’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/events/575975152490661/) or follow us at @BauBratBuffalo for important tips, resources and information about the German Program at Canisius.
