The 16th Annual Canisius College Shoes for the Shelter 5K, presented by Independent Health, is only a month away. The run/walk will be held Sunday, April 6 at 10 a.m. The event begins and ends at Main and Delavan, and a post-race party in the Patrick Lee Center will feature live entertainment from the Time Pirates. With the winter weather we have “enjoyed” the past two months, the Shoes 5K presents a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy a nice spring day.
Registration forms for the race are being distributed throughout campus this week or interested participants can register on-line at gogriffs.com. Faculty and staff receive a $5.00 discount.
Whether or not you plan to run or walk, we are encouraging all departments on campus to begin collecting shoes. The race benefits St. Vincent de Paul. More than 25,000 pairs of new and used shoes have been collected since 2002.
Shoe collection bins will be located around campus following spring break.
For additional information, call 888-2977.
P.S. One of our runners, who has already registered for the race, just turned 90 years old. If he can do it – you can do it!
