Canisius Presents Lecture by Expert on Catholic Church

Rev. Thomas J. Reese, S.J., senior fellow at Georgetown University’s Woodstock Theological Center, will speak at Canisius College on Tuesday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge. Father Reese’s lecture, entitled “Catholic Identity in the 21^st Century,” is free and open to the public. The event is presented by the Institute for Global Study of Religion (ISGOR) at Canisius College.

At Georgetown, Father Reese is also director of the Woodstock International Visiting Fellows Program. Father Reese is a widely-recognized expert on the U.S. Catholic Church and his scholarship focuses on religion and public policy.  He served as editor of America, the national Catholic weekly magazine, for nearly seven years. In this role, Father Reese encouraged discussion and debate on issues facing the Catholic Church and the world.

Father Reese is also the author of a trilogy of books that examine church organization and politics on the local, national and international levels: Archbishop: Inside the Power Structure of the American Catholic Church, A Flock of Shepherds: The National Conference of Catholic Bishops and Inside the Vatican: The Politics and Organization of the Catholic Church.
