Marissa Verdi is a sophomore from suburban Rochester and the winner of two tickets to an upcoming Sabres game thanks to this entry in the Shoot and Score contest: “College prepares students for future careers, while providing them the opportunity to become student leaders and forge lasting friendships. When I arrived at Canisius last year as a freshman, I knew no one. One year later, I am now the vice president of a club, an orientation leader, and a member of the USA senate! I am able to walk around campus and be greeted by familiar faces daily, and I am constantly meeting new people and forming relationships. Coming to Canisius College was one of the best decisions I made for myself.”

Marissa, a biology major, won two tickets to the Sabres game versus the New York Rangers on April 19. Your next Sabres game could be on us too. You can enter and win by submitting an example or story that best reflects the Canisius experience. It could be a short story about a student, professor, class, project or activity on or off campus. It could involve you or someone else. We want to hear about service projects, internships, clubs and people that go the extra mile and deserve recognition. Submissions can be made through canisius.edu/studentsurge.

Students, faculty and staff can also purchase tickets at the discounted price of $25 each. Tickets are available for most home games and available in the Office of Campus Programming and Leadership Development in the Student Center.
