Matt McKenna is a 2011 graduate who’s taking additional classes toward a second degree. He’s also a winner in the Shoot and Score contest. “To me Canisius is a great place to learn and grow,” says McKenna, whose mother, Sandy McKenna, works on campus in the Office of Professional Studies.

“What I like about Canisius is it’s close to home for me, I met a bunch of friends here, and I liked every professor. The professors here always pushed me to be my best. The professors here really go out of their way to do everything they can to get the most out of you. If I did poorly on a test, they’d give me opportunities to relearn the material and retake the test. And they were willing to stay after class if I didn’t understand something. They’re great.”

Matt won two tickets to a Sabres game. Your next Sabres game could be on us too. You can enter and win by submitting an example or story that best reflects the Canisius experience. It could be a short story about a student, professor, class, project or activity on or off campus. It could involve you or someone else. We want to hear about service projects, internships, clubs and people that go the extra mile and deserve recognition. Submissions can be made through www.canisius.edu/studentsurge.

Students, faculty and staff can also purchase tickets at the discounted price of $25 each. Tickets are available for most home games and available in the Office of Campus Programming and Leadership Development in the Student Center.
