Prize Winner of the Stecher Horowitz New York International Piano Competition to perform at Canisius

Saturday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center. Free and open to the public.

Come welcome Chelsea Wang, pianist, born in 1993, the Second Prize Winner of the 2012 Sixth New York International Piano Competition, a biennial event presented under the auspices of The Stecher and Horowitz Foundation.
Ms. Wang will perform works by Chopin, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Kaputin.

Ms. Wang performed at the 2010 and 2011 Piano Texas International Academy and Festival, formerly known as the Cliburn Piano Institute, as one of the youngest pianists. She has also participated in the Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival in Italy in 2011. Chelsea has appeared on the NPR’s radio show, “From the Top” hosted by Christopher O’Riley in Des Moines.

She volunteers at various community activities and senior homes, and in 2011, was honored as an Iowa Youth of the Year. Chelsea currently studies with Meng-Chieh Liu and Ignat Solzhenitsyn at the Curtis Institute of Music.
