Complimentary vintage-style hockey caps from New Era highlight the promotional activities for Friday’s (February 25) final home game of the 2010-11 Golden Griffin hockey season.
The Griffs open the weekend home and home series with Mercyhurst at 7 p.m. in the Buffalo State Ice Arena. All faculty and staff are admitted free and the first 150 Canisius fans receive a New Era cap. Following the game, Canisius coach Dave Smith will honor his nine seniors. The Griffs need to take three points this weekend from the Lakers in order to secure the fifth seed in the Atlantic Hockey championships.

Through the Employee Assistance Program, Child & Family Services reminds Canisius faculty and staff that there are easy and free options available for help in preparing federal and state taxes. There are several tax preparation sites throughout the city of Buffalo which are sponsored by Creating Assets, Savings & Hope (CASH) division of the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County. To find a site nearby, click here and select “Find A Free Local Tax Center in Your Area Today.”
Online software available here provides other extremely useful tax information as well. Users of the service must earn $57,000 or less (the community sites offer service to those earning $50,000 or less). Also, returns are filed electronically and direct deposit is available where refunds are issued and received within eight to 15 days.
