“It’s really fascinating to watch them grow into young adults.”  Laura’s cheerful, nurturing demeanor with students epitomizes the concept of cura personalis.

Among her many duties, Laura is mainly responsible for registering students for classes, making major changes, and processing transfer credit and GriffAudit exceptions.  Described as the ultimate team player by her co-workers, Laura values excellence and strives to do things right the first time.

Canisius is a family affair for the Zirnhelds. Laura, is from the Class of 1984, her husband, Mark, graduated in 1982. The Zirnhelds’ daughter, Julie is a member of the Class of 2012 and son, Eddie is a member of the Class of 2015. He also obtained a master’s degree in sport administration in 2017.

“One of my greatest thrills was handing our  son Eddie his undergraduate diploma in 2012 and marshalling his row when he received his master’s degree in sport administration,” says Laura.

The Zirnhelds can be regularly spotted at men’s and women’s basketball games and volleyball matches. In her spare time, Laura enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, reading and knitting.
