Campus Candids

Stress Less Day on Wednesday, March 16, was a campus-wide effort to support mental health and included activities such as essential oil/scrub making, succulent planting, journaling and yoga. The event had clubs from all over the campus come together to provide a stress-less day for students and faculty.

As part of Stress Less Day, more than  30 faculty and staff took some much-needed time out of their busy days to participate in a Mental Health Matters Session, presented by Tara McPherson, a corporate wellness consultant at Lawley Insurance & Lauren Dlugosz, wellness program manager at Independent Health.

The group learned about mental health and employee burnout in the workplace, current Canisius College benefits to assist with employee mental health needs, and takeaways for playing an active role in their personal well being journey. The session ended in a guided meditation exercise during which the group learned some helpful breathing and stretching techniques along with a bonus raffle to give away a stress relief and relaxation gift pack.

The lucky winner was Kristina Marohn, general chemistry lab coordinator for the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department, pictured above with Lynn Incardona, HR associate.
