The physical and health education/teacher education program (P/HETE) hosted the annual conference for the Western Zone of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AHPERD) on Tuesday, March 15 at the Koessler Athletic Center. With more than 80 health and physical education professionals from the Western New York area, this marks the ninth year that the Canisius P/HETE program has hosted the conference.
Presenters and sponsors included Buffalo Curling and West Side Rowing Clubs, G&G Fitness, Runners Roost, and many local health and physical education professionals. Associate Professors of Teacher Education and Leadership, Drs. Jeff Lindauer and Clancy Seymour co-presented a session with P/HETE alum and Buffalo Public School health and physical educator Mr. Michael Ertel, entitled “The Tactical Games Model: Research and Best Practices“.
A special thanks to Dr. Greg Reeds (emeritus); Julie Marzolf, administrative associate for school of education; Pat Clarke, director of athletic facilities; Aaron Chambers, graduate assistant; Teacher Education and Leadership; Carey MacCormick, catering services, Chartwells; Matt Kochan, access services coordinator, Library; Scott Clarke, director, User Services; and the many P/HETE majors on hand for their efforts to make this conference so successful.
