The Office of Academic Affairs is pleased to announce the 2016-17 Excellence in Teaching Fellows and the workshops they will present this semester.  The Faculty Fellows are Karen Dutt-Doner, PhD, professor of teacher education; Patricia Johnson, assistant professor of accounting; Michael Noonan, PhD, professor of animal behavior, ecology and conservation (ABEC) and biology; and Erin Robinson, PhD, associate professor of sociology, anthropology and criminal justice.

The Fellows will be offering the following workshops this semester:

  • Monday, October 31, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. in the President’s Board Room, Mike Noonan, PhD, will present “Beyond the Classroom: The infusion of experiential learning opportunities into traditional coursework”
  • Tuesday, November 1, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the President’s Board Room, Mike Noonan, PhD, will present “Beyond the Classroom: The infusion of experiential learning opportunities into traditional coursework”
  • Wednesday, November 9, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. in the President’s Board Room, Erin Robinson, PhD, will present “Feeling the Energy: Infusing Mission into the Classroom”
  • Thursday, November 10, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the President’s Board Room, Erin Robinson, PhD, will present “Feeling the Energy: Infusing Mission into the Classroom”
  • Wednesday, November 16, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. location to be determined, Pat Johnson will present “Using Case Studies to Engage Students”
  • Thursday, November 17, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. location to be determined, Pat Johnson will present “Using Case Studies to Engage Students”
  • Monday, November 21, 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. in the President’s Board Room, Karen Dutt-Doner will present “Developing and Using Rubrics” (this workshop is aimed at a beginning level, including changing grading scales into rubrics)
  • Tuesday, November 29, 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. location to be determined, Karen Dutt-Doner, PhD, will present “Developing and Using Rubrics” (this workshop is aimed at a beginning level, including changing grading scales into rubrics)

The Fellows will present additional workshops in the next semester.  In addition, they are planning to present some workshops in the week prior to the spring semester and after the spring semester ends.
