Music History’s Influence on a NOW Composer will take place Thursday, Feb. 28 at 2:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center. This event is free and open to the public.

Canisius College Composer-in-Residence Persis Vehar continues her two-part series on the correlation between well-known composers in music history and a NOW composer.  Besides her own music, the program will include works of Beethoven, Brahms, Poulenc and Donizetti.

An exciting surprise will be the premiere of the “Assassin’s Aria” from Vehar’s upcoming opera, SHOT!  by Canisius College faculty member and baritone James Wright. SHOT! Vehar’s new opera, is based on the assassination of President William McKinley which occured here in Buffalo. The opera will be premiered by the Nickel City Opera Company in 2014.
