2012 Canisius Care Deadline

For those who participated in Canisius Care in 2012, March 15, 2013 is the last date that you may incur expenses for your 2012 funds. If you have questions regarding your balance, please contact Independent Health at (716)504-1468 or 1-800-258-3348. Another option is to view your account at www.independenthealth.com

You have until April 20, 2013 to file for reimbursement. Claim forms can be found at http://www.canisius.edu/hr/forms/ Medical claims are submitted directly to Independent Health.

Dental claims must be submitted and processed under the Canisius dental assistance plan first, then submitted to Independent Health. You must attach a copy of your dental bill and the college’s explanation of benefits to an Independent Health claim form.

The deadline for submitting 2012 dental claims to the Controller’s office is March 20, 2013.

Senior Ceremonies and Free New Era Caps On Tap This Weekend

Your Golden Griffin women’s basketball team will celebrate the careers of three outstanding seniors this weekend. Playing their final home games Friday night and Sunday afternoon will be Ashley Durham, Allison Braun and Ashley Wilkes.

The Griffs host Manhattan on Friday evening at 7 p.m. It will be Buffalo Steak & Sub Night with plenty of prizes for fans.

Sunday afternoon at 2 pm, Canisius hosts Fairfield. Prior to the game, the three seniors will be saluted. The first 150 women in attendance will receive a complimentary New Era Cap. It’s also Cure NF Day with all fans encouraged to wear green.

Canisius Finance Students Place First in CFA Research Challenge for Third Consecutive Year

For the third consecutive year, Canisius College Finance Students placed first in the local CFA Institute Research Challenge hosted this year by Canisius on Tuesday, February 19. This annual educational initiative promotes best practices in equity research through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills.

The following nine university teams competed for the local title: Canisius College, Niagara University, St. Bonaventure, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Buffalo, SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Oswego and Syracuse University.

The faculty advisor for the Canisius team is Richard Wall, PhD, CFA; the Director of the Financial Markets Lab is Michael Piemonte, and the industry mentor for the team is Jeffrey Viksjo, CFA of First Niagara Financial Group.  Congratulations to Wehle School of Business team members Drew Pettit (team captain), Brandon Carnovale, Drew Jaskowiak, Don Monroe and Micah Puscheck.

Next stop for the team is the North and South American regional competition in Toronto, March 20-21, 2013.
