Deck the Halls Holiday Contest

‘Tis the season to deck the halls – or in this case, the doors!

The Human Resources Department is hosting a holiday door decorating contest and every department is encouraged to participate.  Have fun, be unique and show your Christmas creativity.  Then, submit a photo of your department door to Stephanie Masood at by noon on Friday, December 16.  The department selected as having the most creative door will win a breakfast party.

(Bonus points when the department door picture is accompanied by a photo of the team decked out in their favorite holiday sweaters!)

Mark Harrington Recognized for “Eminence in Mentorship”

The College Student Personnel Association of New York State Inc. (CSPA-NYS) conferred its 2022 “Eminence in Mentorship Award” upon Mark R. Harrington, EdD, during its annual conference.  The “Eminence in Mentorship Award” honors a higher education professional who has made meritorious and sustained contributions to the personal scholastic or professional development of undergraduate students, graduate students and/or professionals in the field.

Harrington is assistant vice president for student success at Canisius, director of the college’s master’s program in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration (HESAA) and an assistant professor in the Department of Teacher Education and Leadership.   He was nominated for the award by Canisius students and alumni of the HESAA program.  Their submissions described Harrington as:

“ … Someone who is an active listener, leader, supporter, empathetic, understanding and enthusiastic about helping others to reach their goals” and is “ … Truly committed to helping his students network and develop professionally … so they are uniquely and exceptionally prepared to enter the field of higher education.”

Celebration of Scholarship

This year, Academic Affairs is hosting a Celebration of Scholarship during Winter Faculty Development Week! This event will allow you and your colleagues to celebrate recent scholarly works from 2021 to current on January 9, 2023 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge.
