Bill Collins, vice president for institutional advancement, has announced the names of those individuals whom he recently appointed to fill vacant positions within the division. Institutional Advancement at Canisius encompasses several areas, including fundraising, advancement services and research, alumni engagement, corporate and foundation relations, stewardship and events, fundraising, and marketing and communication.

Collins most recently named Matthew Z. Wojick as the college’s new associate vice president for marketing and communication. Wojick is responsible for the development and implementation of unified marketing strategies across multiple media and brand identity standards. He also leads marketing support for undergraduate and graduate enrollment, development and other departments and divisions throughout the college in order to drive both short and long-term strategic goals. Wojick oversees the college’s marketing, branding, website, social media presence and creative services. He has degrees from Syracuse University and Niagara University.

Wojick comes to Canisius with more than two decades of experience in marketing, advertising and brand communications. Wojick previously served as senior marketing manager for the consumer products division of Fisher-Price, Inc., (a division of Mattel, Inc.). He directed the brand licensing division, responsible for $60 million in Fisher-Price licensed business, and led a cross-functional team responsible for guiding brand development activities of 20 independent licensees.

Collins also named the following people to their respective positions:

CeCe Gotham ’13 was named assistant director of stewardship and events. She is responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of special events that support Canisius’ institutional advancement efforts. In addition, Gotham assists in the management of endowment stewardship responsibilities. Specifically, she coordinates with the Financial Aid Office and academic department chairs to research and identify qualified students as potential scholarship recipients.
Gotham recently served as an advancement coordinator, managing division-related events.

Sarah E. Graham MS ’13 is the new director of corporate and foundation relations at Canisius. In this role, Graham works to secure funding from foundations, corporations and other grant-making organizations to support a broad range of departmental, school and college-wide initiatives.
Prior to this position, Graham served as assistant director of advancement initiatives.

Summer L. Handzlik is the new assistant director of the Canisius Fund. She comes to Canisius from Medaille College, where she managed the college’s annual fund. At Canisius, Handzlik works closely with members of the institutional advancement staff to develop, coordinate and oversee all aspects of annual giving through direct mail, social media/ electronic and personal solicitation. She also directs and manages the college’s telephone solicitation call center.

Dennis L. Misko ’67 is now director of external projects and a major gifts officer. As director of external projects, Misko is now the college’s point-person for all external initiatives, including StartUp New York and other government-related projects. He will also manage real estate and other select college projects. In his role as a major gifts officer, Misko serves as a member of the college’s fundraising team and is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding long-term philanthropic relationships with donors and prospective donors.

Daniel R. Warner is a new leadership gift officer within the Institutional Advancement Division. Warner manages a portfolio of major, leadership and planned gift prospects whom he cultivates to secure support for campus-wide priorities. He also supports major gift officers in upcoming campaigns focused on Science Hall renovations and funds for endowment.

He is a graduate of Le Moyne College.

 

Glenn P. Weber ’92 became the new director of alumni engagement in September. In this recently modified role, Weber works to strengthen the connection between Canisius and its alumni in four key areas: He is charged with identifying, recruiting and identifying participation among young alumni; organizing and coordinating with key affinity groups to grow their engagement with alma mater. Weber also works to further educate and engage alumni in the college’s annual giving campaign (Canisius Fund); and collaborates with Canisius’ career advisement team to elevate networking, mentoring and internship opportunities for all Canisius alumni.
