HARBORCENTER Opens to Rave Reviews

HARBORCENTER opened with tremendous fanfare and celebration this past weekend and anyone who was there will vouch for the beauty and functionality of the facility.

Your Griffs hockey team sold out HARBORCENTER both nights with 2000 enthusiastic fans cheering for Canisius hockey. The Griffs tied Big 10 entry Ohio State on Friday before dropping a 4-1 decision on Saturday.

Special thanks to President John Hurley, for welcoming a large contingent of faculty, staff and students to the games. He also played host on Friday evening to Sabres/Bills owner Kim Pegula, who stopped by the college’s box and spent 45 minutes visiting with the president and guests.

On Saturday, President Hurley and the college honored the generous donors who contributed to the “build out” of the Griff’s locker room. The on-ice ceremony was preceded by a reception in 716, the HARBORCENTER’S new sports bar and restaurant, which received high marks from all of those in attendance.

Let’s keep the momentum going!

On November 14 and 15, the Golden Griffins will welcome RIT to its new nest. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the Canisius Ticket Office at 888-2885. Reserved and general admission seats remain. Games are slated to start at 7:35 p.m.

If you plan on attending games in the future, be aware that the indoor temperature of the HARBORCENTER is chilly, so wear a sweater and don’t leave your coat in the car! With regards to parking, there is plenty of capacity in the HARBORCENTER ramp, which is accessible on the Washington Street side of the building. There is a fee but it’s reasonable.

Go Griffs!
